The Retreat has been built using local bush materials with great consideration to the natural environment. Great care has been taken in the planning and layout of the retreat to ensure it doesn’t disturb the surroundings whilst also providing 180 degree views of the bay for guests to enjoy. The bungalows, toilets and restaurant and bar offer raised timber walkways and is wheelchair friendly. The Deck Bar and Restaurant is an informal barefoot dining area and a great place to chill out with a good book in the day bed or to enjoy a few cold drinks with other guests.

Papatura Island Resort Your stay is inclusive to three meals a day. A continental breakfast with tropical season fruits is offered and lunch and dinner is varied. The retreat uses locally grown produce as well as some imported goods.

Your menu may include salads, rice, pasta, pizza and a variety of meats as available. Vegetarians are also catered for but a $10 per day surcharge is required for non-seafood meat eating guests. The bar is stocked with icy cold Sol Brew beer, basic spirits, Australia white and red wines and bubbles and a full range of soft drinks.

Papatura Resort offers four types of accommodation made from traditional materials such as sago leaf and wild beetle nut. Choose from the Beachfront Bungalow, Family Bungalow, Loft Bungalow and Sunset Bungalow. Each features large decks and are fitted out using LED lighting, inner spring mattresses and mosquito nets. If you have a baby, a cot is available upon reservation.

Papatura Island ResortThe Beachfront Bungalow offers twin rooms that can sleep up to 3 people in each room. The rooms share a large common deck with hammocks and table and chairs. The beach bungalows are linked with raised timber walkways to shared bathroom facilities, featuring 2 showers with rainforest views and 2 composting toilets.

Papatura Island ResortThe Family Bungalow can sleep 4 guests with a queen bed and 2 singles, and features a private indoor/outdoor bathroom, huge deck area and is ideal for couples, groups or families with young kids. The Loft Bungalows can accommodate up to six people.

Papatura Island ResortThey are slightly more private and feature a private outdoor bamboo shower with toilet and vanity basins inside. The Sunset Bungalow is located on the Western end of the island and features a queen size four posted bed, small fridge, private deck with outdoor lounges, day beds, a private out door shower and a indoor bathroom with hot water shower, toilet and vanity basin inside.
